In 1952 when British authorities enter the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to investigate a reported burglary they ended up arresting and eventually convicting him for the criminal offense of homosexuality. As the pioneer of modern-day computing, Alan Turing famously led a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers to crack the so-called unbreakable codes of Germany’s World War II Enigma machine. An intense and haunting portrayal of a brilliant, complicated man — a genius who under nail-biting pressure helped to shorten the war and save thousands of lives, and, who also happened to be gay. Co-starring Keira Knightley.
