L Word Chart

Showtime announced last week that L Word creator Ilene Chaiken is in the process of developing a spin-off of the popular lesbian show. One character will be the jumping off point for the show. Remember Maude spinning off from All In The Family? Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. was a spin-off from The Andy Griffith Show. And Buffy The Vampire Slayer begat Angel. Which of your favorite L Word characters will find new life in their own fresh plot of TV Land?

Who will it be: Shane, Alice, Bette, Tina, Jenny, Kit, Papi, Helena, Max, Tasha, Dana, Dawn Denbo or maybe Gaby Deveaux?

Pick your girl! Post a comment below and suggest a plot line in 50 words or so. We’ll select our personal completely subjective favorite and send you an L Word t-shirt!

That Ain't Right

Responding to an outpouring of complaints from LGBT community groups, Nike has acted swiftly to withdraw its recent “That Ain’t Right” ad campaign which sports an image of a dunking basketball player whose crotch straddles the face of another (which is then overlaid with the words: “That Ain’t Right” — see picture above). It seems hard to believe that Nike execs were unaware of the homophobic undertones of the ad. In any event they’ve done the right thing and pulled it. Get all the details at Advocate.com.

Ian McKellen

The Hollywood Reporter serves up a sexy scoop on the PBS broadcast slate for 2009. It seems the Royal Shakespeare Company production of King Lear includes a nude Ian McKellen. The filmed performance is scheduled for broadcast in 2009, but PBS President Paula Kerger is unsure of whether it will pass FCC standards.

Per the Reporter article:

“I haven’t seen the taped version,” Kerger said, when asked about the possibility PBS would censor the full frontal nudity in the stage performance. Besides, she added, “it’s not what I think about it, it’s what the FCC will allow.”

Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby

You heard it here first (or else on Defamer where we heard it). Juno star Ellen Page (left) is officially off of the cast list for the long-awaited teen lesbian romance flick, Jack and Diane. Dang! At least Olivia Thirlby (right) is still on board as Jack.

Voting is now open for who gets to be her Diane!

I’m thinking maybe a hot young blond like: Brittany Snow (of Finding Amanda) or perhaps Ashley Olsen?

Wolfe Mobile

Passing out free LGBT DVDs and red Wolfe lollipops, the cherry red vintage Mustang “Wolfe Mobile” made a big splash at last weekend’s San Jose LGBT Pride Parade. Pictured here amidst the festivities is the fabulous Lady Shockra (Wolfe’s own Fedel Sanchez) and Wolfe CEO Kathy Wolfe (in the driver’s seat)! In related news, Lady Shockra graced the cover of the next day’s San Jose Mercury News; while Kathy Wolfe was just named one of the 2008 Top 100 Women We Love by Go Magazine!
