Description
Charmingly British and exceptionally well-produced, Mr. Right is a fast-paced, colorful, and exuberantly gay romantic-comedy that tells the intertwined tales of a group of successful gay men in London navigating careers, aspirations, love and even parenthood. A grown-up gay movie for smart gay audiences the film follows TV producer Harry and his rascal young actor boyfriend Alex; Rugby player William who balances parenting his nine-year-old daughter with dating soap star Lawrence; and wealthy artist Tom who tolerates the deceptions of his model boyfriend Lars.
Handsome British TV hunks James Lance and Benjamin Hart spearhead this film’s excellent cast. Co-directed by brother-sister team Jacqui and David Morris, Mr. Right pack plenty of witty repartee into a stylish, sophisticated package that also manages to convey some tender truths about the search for Mr. Right (alongside the pleasures of finding Mr. Right Now).
Awards & Quotes
“Engaging romp . . . likeable characters. . . smartly delivered!” – Variety
[Mr.Right] has the hip energy of Sex and the City.” – Dallas Voice
“Terrific example of taking the best of Altman, funneling it through the urban frenzy of Michael Winterbourne (Wonderland specifically) and giving us a clever spin on character-driven cinema. . . Mr. Right rocks!” – NewYorkCool.com
“Well-crafted romantic comedy.” – LA Weekly
“One of the most refreshing and heartfelt comedies you will see this summer.” – Refresh Magazine
“Smart, snappy and stylish . . .A witty, heartfelt rom-com that pulses with the veddy English energy of Cool Britannia. Paisley-pattered opening credits worthy of Almodovar set the queer-as-folk tone, as Rufus Wainwright’s appropriately over the top “Oh What a World” serenades a metrosexual roundelay of cute couples.” – Frameline, SF LGBT Film Fest
