This beautifully shot first feature from gay writer-director Marc Moody asks the whimsical yet poignant question, "What if everyone in the world were gay? Except for you."
This wacky comedy-drama follows Brad Jenkins (adorable newcomer Andrew Keitch), a 40-year-old gay college professor. He is a bit fearful of being out on campus. When he is approahed by one of his students, even though flattered he quickly shys away. At semester break he heads home to Nebraska for his parents' 45th wedding anniversary. Fed up with the homophobia of his friends and family, Brad desperately wishes he could just be "normal." When a car crash magically transports him back in time to high school Brad gets his wish – but, as the saying goes, you have to be careful what you wish for!
In this "Back to the Gay Future" fantasy, Brad Jenkins gets what he thought he wanted – including an idyllic but short-lived romance with his hunky high school crush (Tim Hammer). But now: He's straight; and everyone around him seems to be gay! This clever turnabout envisions a world of clandestine hetero bars and straight bashing, where the "breeders" are ostracized and the queers are the norm.
Almost Normal brings together an immensely talented ensemble cast and a tremendously nostalgic soundtrack to fulfill all of your Homo High School dreams.
