The saucy and tantalizing tale of an adventurous British lesbian!

When Nan Astley discovers the exciting world of the 19th century music hall, she also meets - and falls in love with - Kitty, a popular male impersonator. They become a double act both on and off stage, but closeted Kitty soon betrays her. Devastated, Nan takes to the streets. To survive, first she wears her music hall attire and works as a "male" prostitute. Later, she is "rescued" by the capricious widow Diana, and enters a world of wealth and debauchery. Eventually, Diana throws Nan out the door, and the plucky dyke must search for her one true love.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Sarah Waters, this is the complete and unedited version of "Tipping the Velvet," as seen on British television.

The sparkling cast includes Rachael Stirling (Othello, Maybe Baby and daughter of Diana Rigg), Keeley Hawes (Wives and Daughters, Our Mutual Friend), Anna Chancellor (Four Weddings and a Funeral), and Jodhi May (Sister My Sister).
